Mayors and business managers from Agder County and several Agder municipalities concluded a two-day visit to ONS Wednesday.

“I am impressed by the competence and technology displayed by the companies we have visited. This industry is of tremendous importance to the Agder region. I would encourage more local politicians to attend ONS to witness the development within the industry – the pride that companies take in their products and services, and how committed they are to the green transition,” says Arne Thomassen, Mayor of Agder County.

Mayors and business managers from Kristiansand, Lindesnes, Farsund, Kvinesdal, Iveland, and Sirdal attended the energy conference and exhibition – ONS – on a trip organized by GCE NODE. LO Agder, Kristiansand Chamber of Commerce, Business Region Kristiansand, and the University of Agder were also represented on the tour.

At ONS, the Agder delegation visited more than 20 GCE NODE companies. They also attended meetings and seminars – all within a span of 40 hours. Afterwards, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

“We are here to support the companies and the region. The oil and gas industry is incredibly important to Agder. There lies a great responsibility on authorities and other to understand the size of this industry and the ripple effects it brings on local communities, families and the entire workforce,” says Mette Gundersen, Regional Manager at LO Agder.

Alf Erik Andersen, Mayor of Lindesnes, found it very useful to meet so many companies from Agder in such a short time.

“I am pleased to be updated on the current status of this industry in Agder. I have also found time to meet with Equinor and Ventyr, two companies that are of particular importance to Lindesnes. We have discussed infrastructure for offshore wind and how to move forward with the process of securing such infrastructure,” says Andersen.

Ingrid Williamsen, Mayor of Farsund, praises both the ONS tour and the companies she met.

“For a first timer at ONS this was very educational. I was pleased to be part of the event and thrilled to meet so many competent people from our region,” says Williamsen.
