“Lister is truly an energy region,” says Kjell Ingolf Ropstad, Member of the Norwegian Parliament and its Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment.

The Lister region in Southern Norway plans to produce renewable energy utilizing eight different technologies.

“Is there a more energy savvy region in Norway? Perhaps not,” says Hans Fredrik Grøvan, General Manager of Lister Business Association, the primary organizer of Lister Energy Day Thursday.

During the half-day seminar, companies in the Lister region presented project plans and current production of energy from onshore wind, offshore wind, airborne wind, hydrogen, ammonia, solar, hydro and biogas.

“This is truly an energy region. I am impressed by the initiatives and the entrepreneurship showcased by companies in Lister,” says Kjell Ingolf Ropstad, Member of the Norwegian Parliament and its Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment.

He gave closing remarks after eight energy-intensive presentations from companies that are already energy producers or in the process of entering the energy market.

Hans Fredrik Grøvan is especially impressed by the fact that most of the new projects have funding from national or international partners.

“This shows the validity of the projects. It is easy to have lofty ideas, securing funding is a different matter. Most of the Lister projects are already founded,” says Grøvan.

Lister is a region full of energy and plans to build new energy production facilities based on numerous technologies. The Lister Energy Day drew close to 100 people in Lyngdal.

Close to 100 people attended the Lister Energy Day at picturesque Rosfjord Havhotell in Lyngdal. Among them was Tom Fidjeland, CEO of GCE NODE and a co-organizer of the event.

“Lister has become a hotspot for current and new technologies for energy production. This is an ideal place for an Energy Day, and GCE NODE is excited to help facilitate the event,” says Fidjeland.

Nuclear energy is perhaps the only form of energy that is not produced or part of future production plans in Lister. Still, representatives from a Norwegian nuclear power company were still given time on stage.

Jon Fredrik Myge is a Business Development Manager at NorSea Group Maritime, the strategic partner of Ventyr, the winner of the first Norwegian offshore wind auction.
Åge Breimoen is co-founder of Kvina Energy Park, the site of a future hydrogen and ammonia production plant that could be operational in 2029.
Espen Oland is the R&D Manager at KiteMill, a company established to harness airborne wind energy with airplanes attached to a line on the ground.
Reinhard Lund-Mikkelson is the General Manager at Lista Biogass, has secured funding from ENOVA for a project that will produce gas from animal manure, starting in the third quarter of 2026.
Magne Bratland is the CEO of Sira Kvina, one of the largest hydro power producers in Norway.
