Firenor International, headquartered in Kristiansand, announced a company-transforming deal with Petrofac during the second day of ONS in Stavanger.

Firenor International is a leading supplier of highly specialized products and systems for active firefighting in the energy sector. The company has received an order from the international energy service company Petrofac to supply fire safety systems for an HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) platform for offshore wind power. The parties have also signed two framework agreements for delivery to another five platforms.

The agreement between Firenor and Petrofac has a duration of eight years, during which Firenor guarantees the capacity to deliver fire safety systems to potentially six HVDC platforms that Petrofac, in cooperation with Hitachi Energy, will deliver to the European network operator TenneT. The HVDCs are part of Tennet’s 2GW program, which connects offshore wind farms in the North Sea off the coasts of the Netherlands and Germany.

The value of the framework agreements is minimum NOK 500 million.

“Over time, we have built a unique offer in fire safety for offshore substations. The agreement with Petrofac proves that this investment is strategically correct,” says Carl Adam Rosenblad, Managing Director and CEO of Concejo AB, the owner of Firenor International.

“Firenor’s Norwegian operations have grown from approximately NOK 40 million to close to NOK 200 million over the past five years. With this framework agreement, Firenor has secured a base load from which the business can continue to grow,” concludes Rosenblad.

The contract was announced at the GCE NODE Joint Pavilion at the energy conference and expo ONS in Stavanger Tuesday. Mathias Bernander, the Mayor of Kristiansand, was proud to be part of the ceremony.

“I am very pleased to have companies such as Firenor International in our region, and I am particularly pleased to learn that this contract will generate more jobs in the Kristiansand region,” says Bernander.

The GCE NODE Joint Pavilion was packed with people Tuesday afternoon.
