“We look forward to interesting discussions about the next generation of advanced offshore mechatronics systems and the future of the oil and gas industry. This is an opportunity to learn about rig automation and industry trends, but also to speak out”, says Arnt Aske.
He is an industry consultant at GCE NODE, which facilitates the workshop of work package 7 – Technology Vision – of the SFI Offshore Mechatronics.
Speakers at the Tuesday workshop include some top names from National Oilwell Varco, Statoil and PWC.
Hege Kverneland, Chief Technology Officer at NOV, travels from Houston to Grimstad to give her insights into the ongoing digital transformation of the oil and gas industry. Bjørn Rudshaug, Strategic Project Manager Automatic Drilling Control at Statoil, will talk about drivers for drilling automation and increased use of data on rigs. And Audun Finnestad, Partner at PWC, will present megatrends based on research conducted by a global PWC team, and continue to talk about the radical opportunities these trends provide for oil and gas.
The company InFuture will present findings from a survey on future opportunities in the field of mechatronics, such as skillsets, innovation, disruption and the market place.
“These findings will be of great interest to the audience”, promises Aske.
The workshop includes visits to the Mechatronics Lab at the University of Agder and to Nymo, where oil-rig modules are on site. As a conclusion, participants are invited to an informal barbeque with refreshments.
The SFI workshop is strongly recommended as a warm-up for participants at GCE NODE’s Wednesday Foresight session.
