The cornerstone industrial plant, located just outside of downtown Kristiansand, invited the Agder H2 Network to visit the new-build – home to two electrolytes for production of hydrogen. The first is already operational, the second will be later this year.
Since 1910, nickel and other metals have been refined, produced and exported from the Nikkelverk production plant. Today, Nikkelverk is one of the largest nickel producers in the western world. The plant also produces high grade, refined copper and cobalt.
Hydrogen is used in these processes, which is why Nikkelverk has produced its own hydrogen for decades.
Nikkelverk has been a strong contributor to the establishment of the Agder H2 Network, which consists of more than 170 member companies that are part of – or eager to enter – the hydrogen value chain.
