NorSap is proud to receive the prestigious “Red Dot Award Product Design” for its latest operator chair. The prize is awarded annually to outstanding products with high design quality.

“This is the result of many years investing in design and development and proves that we have done a good job,” says Managing Director Ove Jensen.

NorSap has high-skilled employees within industrial design, engineering and market knowledge, domestically and globally.

In 2014 the NorSap team started the ambitious task of developing the next generation operator chairs. The result is a brand new modular chair system.

Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot award says: “The Red Dot winners are pursuing the right design strategy. They have recognised that good design and economic success go hand in hand. The award by the critical Red Dot jury documents their high design quality and is indicative of their successful design policy.”

Red Dot Design Award is an internationally recognized award for design excellence. It has been awarded products with exquisite design quality since its inception in 1955. The prize is awarded by an expert jury consisting of around 40 independent designers, design professors and journalists who test, discuss and evaluate each product. For this year’s competition there were submitted over 5,500 contributions from 54 countries. This year’s winning entries are presented in the five weeks long exhibition “Design on Stage” which is part of the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design.

PRODUCT DESIGN
There are many factors to consider when designing an operator chair. Ergonomics, mechanics, technology, class requirements and economy.

“Good design is to make sure all these matters are considered”. In the new chairs, we are very pleased to have achieved a solution that looks good and has many functional advantages for our installers and end users. Aesthetically we wanted to create a modern chair that could just as easily be standing on a fishing vessel as on a super yacht.

MODULAR CHAIR SYSTEM
The new products are based on over 20 years of experience providing chairs for the maritime market.

“Much of what we do every day is about customization” says Marketing Manager Kjetil Johannessen. “A lot of third party equipment like joysticks, screens and computers must be fitted into the armrests and columns. In addition, there is a high customer focus on ergonomics and functions”.

The new chairs satisfies all these requirements in addition to representing the NorSap high quality standard, and confirm our position as global market leader for operator chairs.
