Skeie has had a tremendous impact on the service industry for oil and gas the last 40 years. He constructed his first crane in 1968, which by the way sold for approximately USD 4,000, before he went on to establish or contribute to several of the companies that are now major international players in the business.
”The things you have done for the city of Kristiansand is hard to fathom. There are 10,000 jobs here now, in an industry that we credit to you. You ought to have your own statue downtown”, said Tor Henning Ramfjord, chairman of GCE NODE and CEO of National Oilwell Varco Norway.
A select group from NODE companies, along with old colleagues, gathered Wednesday evening to celebrate Skeie, who turns 70 May 2nd.
”When I look at all of you, it is easy to understand why we succeeded. We worked hard and were determined to reach our goals”, said Skeie.
