A clear majority of Norwegians are in favor of continued production on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Seven out of ten Norwegians fully agree that extraction of oil and gas on the Norwegian Continental Shelf must continue, according to a survey conducted by Kantar on behalf of The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association.

“It is encouraging to learn that a large majority of Norwegians support the industry. It underlines the importance of this industry for the Norwegian society and also for the development of future industries,” says Knut Thorvaldsen, Managing Director (Const.) of The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association.

The survey documents that the support to the oil and gas industry is stable and high. People were asked if they think it is important to maintain the Norwegian oil and gas industry. 69 per cent say it is important to maintain the oil and gas industry, 17 per cent say it is not important, while 14 per cent answered ‘I don’t know’.
