Starting January 1, 2021, Christian von der Ohe is the new Research, Development and Innovation Manager at GCE NODE.

Christian von der Ohe has accepted the position as Research, Development and Innovation Manager at GCE NODE.

“We are very pleased to have Christian join our team. He is a highly qualified researcher and innovator and has extensive knowledge of the public funding schemes supporting such activities. Christian will assist all GCE NODE companies to do more research and increase innovation efforts,” says Tom Fidjeland, CEO of GCE NODE.

Christian von der Ohe, 51, holds a PhD in Materials and Mechanical Integrity from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. His doctoral thesis was a direct result of the first large NODE project, NODE ART, exploring the combined effects of corrosion, wear and fatigue on offshore materials.

“I have had a relationship with NODE for a very long time. I participated in the NODE ART project, I have served as a member of different work groups and I have been hired as a project manager and business development consultant. NODE has been a part of my career, and I am thrilled to join the team to further develop NODE in assisting its participating companies,” says von der Ohe.

Originally a native of Bergen, von der Ohe moved to Kristiansand in 1995 and never looked back. His professional career includes various positions at Norfass, Maritime Hydraulics, Aker Solutions MH, National Oilwell Varco and Castor Drilling Solution.

“It is fair to say that I know quite a few of the cluster companies,” says von der Ohe.

He is also fully aware of the necessity to transfer competence and technology from the oil and gas industry to emerging and existing industries.

“I am looking forward to taking part in the greater societal mission, which is to increase innovation in order to find new markets when old markets fade. The way forward includes research and innovation, and I am happy to share my knowledge in order to assist companies transform their business model,” says von der Ohe.

He starts his new job on January 1, 2021.
