Knut Mjåland

Knut Mjåland, newly appointed CEO of GCE NODE, received a warm welcome at the GCE NODE Top Leader Forum in Kristiansand Thursday evening.

“I am proud and humbled to have been appointed CEO of GCE NODE,” said Mjåland.

It was no stranger that was introduced as the new CEO of GCE NODE at the Top Leader Forum. Mjåland is an industry veteran, despite spending his last nine years in the process industry as CEO of Mandals. The 59-year-old has been deeply involved in GCE NODE, representing HMWirth (now HMH). He has served as a Board Member and participated in various strategy processes.

“Having followed – and been part of GCE NODE for more than a decade – I have observed how the cluster is continuously evolving. We have welcomed change and new opportunities in digitalization, wind and hydrogen – to mention a few. We will continue to do so,” said Mjåland.

Expanding on his priorities, Mjåland listed four items on his to-do-list for the first 100 days:

  • Meet the companies and understand their needs.
  • Develop actions plans to deliver on strategy goals.
  • Identify and start relevant projects.
  • Revitalize the work and activities of the cluster.

“I am looking forward to establishing GCE NODE 5.0 together with all of you,” said Mjåland.

With Tom Fidjeland leaving his position on 1 December, Mjåland hopes to take over as soon as possible after that date. In theory, he could remain the CEO of Mandals till 1 April 2025.

“Yet, I hope to join GCE NODE by year-end,” says Mjåland.
