Kristiansand Deputy Mayor Jørgen Kristiansen led a session of mini-seminars at the Agder reception in Houston.

More than 100 representatives for Agder companies and organizations met in Houston Sunday for a pre-OTC reception.

Hosted by Aust-Agder and Vest-Agder counties for the seventh consecutive year, the reception on the eve of the world’s largest oil and gas expo, OTC, has become increasingly popular.

“We are delighted to host this event to promote the oil and gas industry, which is so important to the Agder region,” says Jon-Olav Strand, Deputy County Mayor of Aust-Agder.

Among the guests were several top executives from companies within the GCE NODE cluster, including CEO Clay Williams and CTO Hege Kverneland at National Oilwell Varco, Managing Director Frode Jensen at NOV Norway, Chairman of the Board of MHWirth Pete Miller, CEO of MHWirth Eirik Bergsvik, CEO Tom Fidjeland at Cameron Sense and many more.

“We are thrilled to see top international executives spend time with the Agder delegation. There are strong relations between Agder and Houston,” says Anne-Grete Ellingsen, CEO of GCE NODE.

She sees the reception as a golden opportunity to showcase the Agder region as an innovative, forward-thinking region.

“Agder has built a strong ecosystem for innovation. Our large companies have contributed to this ecosystem, which all companies now benefit from. Small and medium-sized enterprises can access lab facilities that have never before been available to them. This will spur innovation and business development in our region,” says Ellingsen.
