A political panel discussed the future of oil and gas at MHWirth.

More than 200 people attended a political debate about the future of the oil and gas industry Tuesday.

Eight candidates for Mayor of Agder County participated in the debate hosted by MHWirth in Kristiansand.

«MHWirth contributes with MNOK 250 in annual taxes. That is what we do for the region. What can you do for us?» asked Eirik Bergsvik, CEO of MHWirth in his introduction to the debate.

The discussion identified the different parties’ stand on continued exploration and production of oil and gas, on education, and on infrastructure relevant for MHWirth and its employees.

Participating politicians were Ayat Majbel Saeid (R), Mirell Høyer-Berntsen (SV), Even Tronstad Sagebakken (Ap), Birte Simonsen (MDG), Oddbjørn Kylland (Sp), Bjørn Robstad (KrF), Arne Thomassen (H) and Steinar Bergstøl Andersen (Frp).

GCE NODE and The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association contributed to the event, which is part of a campaign called “The bigger picture”.
